About this place
Pick at a few pieces of sashimi, then share tempura between two. At Miyamoto, the menu lends itself to building a meal from small plates. One diner recalled enjoying a three-piece sashimi assortment of bluefin tuna, bonito and yellowtail, noting the clean cuts and generous number of slices. The menu lists three kinds of sashimi for 1,300 yen and five kinds for 1,700 yen. You can start with an assortment or choose individual fish. Menu records also list fish such as sea bream from Ehime, octopus from Okayama and bluefin tuna from Kochi. Ordering à la carte or choosing several kinds together makes it easy to shape the meal to your tastes.
An assortment of shrimp, sea bream and three kinds of vegetables is listed at 1,200 yen. A pair of diners said the seasonal ingredients were fried until crisp and came in portions that were easy to share. For a lighter bite, the choices include smelt tempura, sea-bream tempura wrapped in shiso, and seasonal vegetable tempura.
Another diner singled out the five-piece oden assortment, a salad of water eggplant and myoga, a dashi omelette with spicy cod roe, and Spanish mackerel grilled with Saikyo miso. The oden was lightly seasoned, they said, with the flavour reaching the egg while its centre remained soft-boiled. The omelette had a gentle flavour and was served with cod roe and grated daikon. The Spanish mackerel, fragrant with Saikyo miso, could work equally well as part of a meal or alongside drinks. Menu records list individual oden items for 200 yen, as well as assortments of six for 500 yen and eight for 780 yen. There are options for sharing several kinds or trying just one. To finish, diners can choose from dishes such as rice with raw egg, Inaniwa udon and sea-bream ochazuke, keeping the final course light or making it more substantial.
The menu records several kinds of sake, including Denshu, Hououbiden and Tatenokawa, as well as shochu and beer. Whether you are focusing on fish and tempura or picking at oden and small plates, there is room to pair the food and drinks at your own pace.
One diner described eating alone at the counter, though another noted that seating is limited. Dinner reservations are recommended, and payment is cash only. If you plan to visit with a small group, it is worth booking ahead and bringing cash.
